A new game from TellTale games was announced yesterday. The game features well known video games mascots : Max (Sam & Max), Tycho (Penny Arcade) Team Fortress 2‘s “hulking Heavy weapon guy” and more. Yeah, this looks like the biggest poker / casino video games mash-up since Larry Casino! (I know that was actually a PC game…)

Telltale’s first game was “Texas Holdem Poker” so let me take a wild guess that this game would also feature this type of game. The only major known feature is the wide selection of clubs , probably one for each character. Each character will also have different winning or losing “behaviors”.

Right now there is no gameplay video, but a little teaser and some pictures. However, the asked price is only 4.95$ , so you can still pre-order without taking a big risk. I highly advise you to buy the game directly from the homepage in order to avoid installing Steam. I have purchased many games this way and the download was always fast and easy.

When it comes to poker gaming there is very little to compare to the dazzling realism provided by the Xbox 360 and World Championship Poker game combination. The Xbox 360 is a pint-sized gaming console but it packs a punch like none other. For me, it’s the crème de la crème of home gaming entertainment and it sizzles with plenty of hard-hitting firepower. Imagine locking and loading the World Championship Poker game into the Xbox 360 and waiting for this bad boy to unleash its awesome potential. It’s like ‘cat got my tongue’ when I get this game up and running – it’s that good. Some of the many plus points about this game include the following:

There are a stunning variety of twelve poker games to enjoy

There is a world-class mix of exceptionally talented online competition

The gaming animation is top tier as you would expect

World Championship Poker tears up screens with big poker gaming
The WSOP (World Series of Poker) is the name to beat when it comes to world-class poker tournaments. This is the most highly anticipated poker event of the calendar year and it’s also the inspiration behind this fab new game. Throw in a couple of poker flicks like Rounders and Croupier and it’s easy to see what all the fuss is about. The game, like many top-tier poker games – features the likes of world poker stars in Johnny Chan (who can forget this legend?) and Daniel Negreanu. Now thanks to the hype around online poker and the WSOP, players can enjoy Crave Entertainment’s latest offering. A lot of poker players question the reasons why anyone would want to game against a computer as opposed to playing against real-life players. I accept that, but Xbox 360 has their bases covered in this sphere too. It’s called Xbox Live and it is for poker gaming what Pistol Pete Sampras was for tennis – an Ace! With Xbox Live you can connect up to the World Wide Web and compete against any number of poker aficionados. And variety is the spice of this game because you can enjoy Stud, Texas Hold’em and Draw Poker game. Remember this is just a game and as far as games of games go – it’s totally off the rails!

Anyone remember that movie ‘The Gambler’ with country and western singer Kenny Rogers? Well the impression he left on his adoring fans was immortalized by his words, ‘You gotta know when to hold and when to fold!’ His words rang true then and they certainly ring true now. Luckily poker fans will not be starved for choice as the inimitable Xbox craze goes into high gear. As one of the gaming market’s leading home entertainment providers, Xbox’s Live Arcade has nailed another winner with a combination game that’s got poker fundis in a spin

Lots more about Poker Smash

Tetris reigned supreme for a long time. This classic video game featured an exciting array of shapes of all sizes that could be manipulated into the right form in order to complete winning patterns. As Tetris lost its shine – as high-powered animation took root- fans of Tetris got thinking. The game was more than a novelty and a market for a Tetris-type game still existed. Enter the world’s most popular casino card game – Poker. Now the tables have turned because the combination of Tetris and Poker and the inclusion of games like Bejeweled made for an exciting synergism. The goal of Poker Smash is to clear as many rows and columns as possible from the rising blocks of doom. The difference in this game however is that players are flipping over cards on the screen – not the typical Tetris lines. The goal of course is accomplished by moving cards around from 10 thru Ace across Hearts, Spades, Diamonds and Clubs. The minimum hand strength is 3-of-a-kind or better. These hands can be created up or down and as rows and columns are completed, they are cleared.

(Credit goes to BoringMonkey)

But there’s more to it because there are bonus rounds where players are presented with card combinations that they can match within a constrained time limit. All in all, the game is an exciting spectacle replete with dazzling aesthetics, bright lights and audio clarity. Indeed the beauty of Poker Smash has been described as a factor detracting from the overall enjoyment of it – with so many splendid distractions the game gets lost in effects. A comforting factor in this endeavor comes in the form of a multiplayer component that brings the social networking component into play. The winner is decided by the player who wins all the chips from other the other players. This is Vegas in your Xbox and it’s piping hot poker action!

Buy the game or download the demo at Xbox LIVE marketplace.

Let the games begin with this party-popping, rootin’ tootin’ thrill-ride of 5-Card Draw poker. I’m a big fan of video poker because it’s really easy to play. I’m not going to kid you here – there are more winning combinations to be had in this game, more often because the sheer enormity of choice is overwhelming. Let’s take a look at a small sampling of the popular gaming variants in video poker:

4-5 Bonus Poker

Aces and Faces

All American

Black Jack Bonus Poker

Deuces Wild

Double Down Stud

Face n’ Deuces

Double Pay Poker

Five Deck Frenzy

Going for Fours

Louisiana Double

Max Out Poker

Sneak Peek Poker

Super Double Double

Triple Bonus

Note that all of these games are based on the inimitable 5-Card draw poker game. And the way they work – both at online casinos and bricks and mortar venues is basically as a slot machine works. If you’re familiar with the game of poker, then video poker is the next step up. I like to think of it as driving automatic as opposed to driving a manual transmission. All the usual poker terms and definitions like a Royal Flush, a Full House, a Straight, a Flush, , Four-of-a-Kind, Two Pairs, a Pair and a high card are hand values you’ll encounter at video poker. And it really is about choices in this game because you’ll be able to hold and fold, deal and draw as you see fit.

There is one word of advice I want to share with you though: Owing to the fact that all the games are different, there are SPECIFIC rules for each and every video poker game. Sometimes holding a pair of Jacks is the best that you can do. And between all the online casinos and video poker dens, there are points allocations that players can score. A Royal Flush for example scores you 2,000 points while a Full House will net you 40 points. There are plenty of online sites where you can practice the game . I like to try these games out for free first – to get the hang of them – before I wager for real money. Enjoy the poker gaming!
